This unit has awakened me (needlessly) three times in the last month at around 2 a.m. To its credit, the alarm would wake the dead. But I don't enjoy getting up at 2 a.m. to turn it off and discover nothing caused the alarm. Be sure to keep a long pole nearby where you install it to turn off the false alarms on yours.MONTHS LATER: Still false alarms. Unending false alarms now. 4 a.m. Cannot turn it off. ARGH!

Firstly, I was happy with its small and compact look. I ordered one and it was shipped promptly. What I liked most is the fact that it doesn’t require any kind of wiring and comes with its battery. I am a bit skeptical about its claim of extra long battery life of 10 years. It would be really great if it runs for so long on a single battery. However, I would be more than happy even if it runs for more than 5 years on its battery and I would count every year after that as a bonus. There is a test button to verify its working condition, still, I checked it with the smoke of a burnt-off matchstick and it responded well and quick.

What attracted me is that you dont have to install this product electrically and you dont have to change the battery for ten years. Like many people I'm handicapped and cannot get up on a ladder to change the batteries. It's also hard to get a handyman to hook this up to the electric. This smoke detector is perfect for that and especially for people that are handicapped and cant change the batteries and have no one to do it. It's the perfect solution

I have got one such device and put this in the shed. Two weeks ago, suddenly the alarm at the shed started ringing. I checked the area for the possibility of smoke, and within a minute, I could see smolders arising out from a wooden bundle. About 15 minutes ago, I had placed some lighted incense sticks on the wall and didn’t notice that the wooden bundle is directly underneath it. Perhaps some chunks of hot ashes from the incense sticks fell on the wooden bundle and created the fire type situation. I was able to put off the smoke by sprinkling some water on the wooden pieces and saved my entire house from getting into fire. Really, this smoke alarm is a life savior product.

Best little smoke detectors for me. The sound it sends out is pretty loud for its small size. It looks cute and modish. Easy to install and maintain, I was really impressed with its long battery life of 10 years. So far it is working fine, and does not trouble us with false alarms. The LED flashes every 8 seconds and tells that it is functioning well and we are protected. Though we are lucky enough for not having a fire at our place, it gives me a feel that it would work in case of an emergency.

Works great as expected, the alarm sound is loud and clear. It comes with a long-lasting battery, so no issues regarding changing the battery every now and then. And the tester button is really worthy, no need to create artificial smoke to check its working. The loud beep on pressing the test button tells me that it is working fine. Overall a very good smoke alarm at such a price. My hubby is happy because it’s sleek and compact and really goes well with our interiors.

This won't alarm for humidity, grilling fish or what ever the reason you turned off your old smoke alarm. But not safe to leave with no alarmThis is great solution
