Indoor Tent for Senior Cat
We were researching a way to provide a safe and comfortable private space for our 18 year old Senior Female cat named "Novia", without putting up barriers and making our place look like an institution. Our dwelling also houses a one year old white male cat named "Neon" and a one year old Female Jindo Dog named "Winter". They are friendly with Novia but are high energy, running around the house at 100MPH, occasionally teaming up to throw Novia around. We looked into certain kinds of indoor fences and pet gates but it just did not fit into the look of our place. Besides, we were interested in something that was covered from the top, is easy to assemble and put away, is cost friendly and can be used indoors. I immediately developed a liking to the "ABO GEAR HAPPY HABITAT" due to the price factor, ($35 at the time of my purchase) and the fact that so many people had given it good reviews. The size was just perfect as we did not want an indoor gazebo. Novia mostly sleeps all day and wakes up only for food so it became necessary to provide her a home within a home so she could feel safe when we are at work.Initial reactions after receiving the tent were mostly good and unboxing to opening to setup took less than 2 minutes. Clear Instructions with pictures are included but may not be required. All that needs to be done is to pull the two black cords on top which will snap all the joints in place. That's it! Tent Setup. We did realize that the tent was rather light and the coverings felt like mosquito net but it was good in a way providing plenty of ventilation.Upon Setup, we introduced Novia to her new space and discovered key factors of improvement in relation to our living situation. As our other cat Neon likes to get "Creative" like a mad scientist and explore loop-holes in everything, he did make every attempt to gain entry from all sides including the top of the tent to give his Grandma a hard time. We noticed that the tent was being squished in and pushed around everywhere because it was very light so we decided to reinforce it and add some traction. We covered the interior flooring with heavy bed sheets and several soft towels Novia loves to sleep on and moved the litter box and large pillows to the corners for weight distribution. after we filled up the litter box with sand and moved her food and water bowl inside as well, the tent felt very sturdy and did not move around at all but we faced another problem.Neon, after several unsuccessful attempts to gain access began to use his sharp claws between the netting to tease Novia. In order to protect the exterior netting from damage and being ripped open, we put a thick moving pad which had been lying around the house and put it on top of the tent. Surprisingly, the moving pad was large enough to cover the entire area of the tent on all sides and had a little more to spare on the floor. This worked out perfectly for everyone as for the last 3 or so days, Novia does not even feel like she wants to step outside her little condo and is being fed all her tuna and crackers right there inside. she is very happy now. The front side of the tent has been positioned next to one of the windows she likes to look out of. The two pillows i mentioned about earlier are stacked one on top of the other so she is elevated to the window level.Neon on the other hand made several attempts to scratch the pad but even his sharp claws cant go through the thick material in the pads. We did not want him to be too depressed so we ordered him a 4 level cat tree with several scratch posts that he loves. He sleeps on the top most level and now teases our dog Winter. As far is Winter is concerned, she received a Memory Foam dog bed of her own so everyone is happy now.I would recommend this to anyone who wants to use it for indoors. Although not perfect out of the box, with a little tweaking and creativity i think you can get most out of it.

Our cats are obsessed with their outside time in the tent. We have purchased this a few times. I might have to get a 2nd one!

Great tent, poor quality
I've settled on a score of four stars for this item. I highly recommend it (five stars) for what it is, but I can't give it five stars due to the horrible quality. It's not a big deal to address the quality issues I've run into, but I shouldn't have to deal with them out of the box and after only one use. More below. We bought this tent for our older cat who requires daily medication so that we could bring him camping with us. We have a floorless screen tent that we set up in camp for bug protection and this tent went next to it, with tarps below it (6'x8', to keep it clean) and above it (for protection in case it rained). While camping with a cat requires a significant amount of behavioral modification (for all parties), this tent was great in allowing our cat to be free in the campsite (though he wore his harness at all times so we could clip him on a leash easily). As for the usefulness of the tent, I give it five stars.Where the tent really falls apart (no pun intended) is in the poor quality. Right out of the box the cords used to lock the tent open were frayed, and majorly so. Having worked with paracord and other nylon materials, I knew that I could simply lick them with a lighter flame to melt them. They reappeared after a single use, though, and I'm concerned that the cord is simply shot and in need of replacement before it fails. The other issue I've encountered is that after the first use (of only a single night), one of the rivets used at the top of the tent fell out and became lost. These defects are easy to address: I plan to replace to drawcords with much stronger and more durable paracord, and I used a machine screw and nut to replace the missing rivet. The cost and effort involved with these repairs are minimal. However, it's absurd to have to make these kinds of repairs out of the box and after a single night of use (and only of few hours of actual use by our cat, since he stayed in our tent at night). In case you need to or want to make these fixes/modifications, I believe you'll need about 4-5 feet of cord (I haven't replaced mine yet, so I don't know the exact length). The missing rivet was easily replaced with a 1" screw; I used a #8-32 pan head machine screw since I had it on hand. I plan to go back to my repair and use a lock nut or some thread locker to ensure that the replacement screw doesn't fall out as well.Bottom line: the tent is great, I'm happy I bought it, and I would definitely recommend it to others. However, I would do so with the caveats that the purchaser may want to make some proactive modifications to the tent out of the box and should be prepared for some repair work with use. These aren't big issues relative to the function of the tent (and this certainly isn't the first product I've had where it's advisable to immediately replace or modify parts for durability), though, as long as you're handy.

Amazing purchase! Update: it broke :(
My two cats love it - my girl especially. When I put both of them in it, after about 30 minutes, my older boy cat started beating up on my little girl cat.My girl gets scared pretty easily by humans and noises, so now I walk my boy while she stays in the tent, and swap them out when he's done with his doing his rounds in the backyard on his harness. My girl seems super happy in the tent and I feel happy that her insane bird and squirrel kill instinct will result in nothing. And she feels safe enough that my husband can walk around the tent without her cowering.I think I saw one commenter mention wishing there was a bottom opening so they could eat grass.I was worried about that.Luckily, some of my grass does poke through the mesh bottom, especially as they walk around and push the bottom part down. They are able to eat what pokes through.I do wish I bought two tents, with the tunnel, because of my bully cat, but I wanted to see if either liked the tent at all.It was a SUPER easy setup. I store it in the box because I use it daily in my backyard, plus saw others had a hard time putting it in the carry bag.I recommend using the stakes for achieving max space on the floor. Also, I could fit in the tent entryway if I wanted to, as a 150 lb adult.
