Mazda MX-5 Miata (Mk1 1989-97 & Mk2 98-2001): The Essential Buyer’s Guide

Carla Crook's Essential Buyer's Guide for the Miata was of almost no use to me as it contained almost no information about the features and specifications of different models with the options available. No specifications by model year. No changes introduced each year. This book might be of use to someone who has never bought a used car before, but is of little use to someone who has. Much of the book was generic to all cars and probably the same as in the Veloce books for other cars except for the photographs. Under the category "Brakes," for example, there is no mention of ABS brakes and how to tell from model years and types whether ABS brakes were available optionally or included as standard equipment. Photos comparing engine compartments with and without ABS, power steering, etc. would have been very helpful. There is a useful buyer's checklist, but it would be essentially the same for all cars. This book is from the U.K., so another problem for American buyers is the use of British terminology and references to British Miatas. The book appears to have been published more to appeal to the naive rather than to provide useful information about Miatas.

Se trata de una pequeña guía para la compra de mazda mx5.Personalmente me gusta coleccionar este tipo de libros, por eso lo compré , te enseña las características principales y lo que hay que mirar a la hora de comprar.Es cierto que se centra en el mercado inglés , en España por ejemplo el óxido no es algo que destaque .En definitiva ideal por menos de 10 euros, tanto para hacer uso de ella como para coleccionar , aunque no es demasiado extensa.

I bought this book as i have had MX-5's for awhile and thought i was clued up on the ins and outs of this car. Needless to say i found this publication full of handy hints and tips and it learnt me a lot about the car i did not know.So i would definately recommend it to novice and 'expert' alike and it is such well laid out and handy reference for the MX-5.

Very Good buyer's guide for MX5. Shows all the good and bad points of the MX5 and what to look out for.

Unfortunately I'd already bought a MX5 but did help with some interesting details.
