Excellent, Easy to Setup, Flexible System
I am by no means a door access expert, but a network engineer. A local non profit that I volunteer for needed a solution for 4 doors. I did some research, and found this all in one system. This system was so easy to setup and has been working great! Everything you need from a controller / power side is included, it works with HID readers/cards, and any 12-volt strike. Each box does 2 doors, but you can add on as many as you want to the system. Iām using HES 9400 strikes, and on one door, using the relay function to trigger a 24 volt power supply for a Falcon electrified Panic Bar device. I highly recommend this unit.

Good enough hardware, but frustration with the software.
For me "good-enough" means that there are lots of things I'd change, but there are no deal-killer flaws and overall the product is good enough that I am not willing to do more work to find/make something better.I've used Axis cameras for the past decade and always found them to be "good-enough", so when they announced the A1001 I was excited at the prospect of finally having a good-enough door controller available. Unfortunately, this product didn't make the bar for even good enough for me. The small problems are enough hassle that it is just not worth it, and the big problems are bad enough to make me not trust it at all.I see this device as a combination of software and hardware. The biggest deal-breaker flaw in the software for me is the fact that any time you reconfigure a door, you loose *all* of the access control info associated with it. Yep, if you want to, say, change the "open too long" time" setting from 5 seconds to 10 seconds, then all the the users, readers, and schedules that were previously configured for the door are completely deleted. You need to manually go back in and re-add everything or else the door will be unaccessible. At best this is a huge hassle, and at worst is is downright dangerous.I've also found that there is no way use the access control webpage with a phone or tablet. The interface requires "dragging" and it only works with a mouse on a computer. It would be really nice to be able to configure a door while standing in front of the door.I also found a bug that prevents you from changing the door lock open time. Axis knows about the problem and expects a fix by June, but this is the sort of thing that is so simple and fundamental to the operation of the controller that the fact that it could slip by and make it into production scares me. A bug in an access controller can prevent people from entering (or escaping) from a building, so they really need to have a minimum level of simplicity and reliability. The hardware is actually pretty good and could easily be good enough if not for the problems with the software. The only big frustration I have with the hardware is that the door outputs can only drive 500mA. This is not enough for lots of locks, and means that you need an extra relay.Hopefully Axis will get fix the software on this unit and we will finally have a good enough door controller to standardize on.

Very easy to program and administer
Very easy to program and administer. We have many of these in a WAN in 2 different states and they work flawlessly.

Two Thumbs up and Five Stars!
This Access control box will handle two doors and can be networked by ethernet to handle a multitude of doors by adding more controllers. Setup and some of the best tech support make this a great product for those with some knowledge of access control products!
