High quality, capable, configurable
This is my third MikroTik product - I love them. They cost less than most upper and high-end consumer networking gear, but they compete feature and performance-wise with the best of the enterprise equipment. That, coupled with the fact that the management interfaces are identical across all the hardware due to it all being based on MikroTik's RouterOS, make them an awesome choice. And you can manage the devices via the web, ssh, telnet, and native applications.I'm a software developer, not a networking guy by any means, so I had to work a little bit to get comfortable with basic operations, but the investment is worth it. Once I have a configuration I like, I can save it in a file and replay it whenever I need to - no more tiring configuration via incomprehensible GUIs, although MikroTik does have multiple GUI technologies one can use.I needed to setup a moderately complex home network and invested a great deal of time trying to identify devices that were supported by OpenWRT, Lede, etc. I found purchasing a specific brand, model, AND VERSION of supported devices to be almost impossible. And, of course, OpenWRT, Lede, etc., only support wireless APs. MikroTiks' RouterOS is used on their wired routers too, so the config/management experience is consistent across their entire product line. You may spend some time leaning it, but you'll only have to learn it once and you can subsequently use it everywhere. I'll never waste my time with OpenWRT and friends again.I have this mounted on a mast about in my yard about 50 feet from my home (it is weatherproof). Both 2GHz and 5GHz signals are strong in all rooms of my home. I'm very impressed with its performance. If you are not very technical or if you aren't willing to deal with a bit of a learning curve, this may not be the best choice for you.

Great CHEAP add On
This Access Point is a problem solver.Excels in providing wireless to low density wireless devices where direct exposure to elements "is gonna happen."These has been a perfect way to get a Nest/Ring installed in brick to actually work. With the popularity of the smart doorbell... all to often the wireless in them can't reach back to the house wifi. Mount one of these outdoors near the device and say good bye to dropped and frozen frames in your video feeds.

Quality item, steep learning curve.
Great product. Can be plug n play if you don't want anything special. Luckily my best friend is a network engineer and fan boy of MikroTik so I have my personal custom mesh network. This is great but not user friendly. I'd go with the Google mesh system for ease of use.
