Impressive!
A long time fan of the genre, I found this 'adventure' to be a pleasant surprise! I enjoy finding out characters aren't always exactly how you think they are. It grabs your attention and doesn't let go until the very last page...which only leaves you wanting more pages!

Friend Request
I wrote a novel but after 2 chapters of William Andrews "Friend Request" I am not sure what I wrote. Mr. Andrews way with words that make you absorb each and every sentence. I felt my mouth opening wider and wider with each paragraph. Subject matter, not one I would of thought I had interest inBut once I started reading I was so infatuated with molding of incidents and frame of mind of the main character Dylan. He scares me to death. Yet as much as you would like to take a gun and blow Dylans head off you want to read on. The author's way with words gives a understanding of how Dylan got the way he is.Please excuse my impose to write a review after only two chapters. But have you ever just gone to a movie and in the first few minuets you know you will like it, that's how this story is. I am going back to readFriend Request now and I am sure I will be back with another urge to write another. I just had to get this out right now. Like Arnold said" I will be back" Mr. Andrews you are a writter.

Have time to spare - once you start reading you can't put this down!
Friend Request grabs you from the prologue and compels you to keep reading until the epilogue. Then you want more.A psychological thriller set in current day Australia, the author teases you in the prologue with what dark horrors await, then masterfully paints a picture of the troubled adolescence of Dylan McCormick and the effect this has on him later in life. There is a serial killer at large in Melbourne and the head Detective Inspector Turner and his CIB team are working 24/7 to find the killer before news of the murders makes it to the media. Their frustration is palpable through the pages of the novel as each time the police think they have a lead, the killer evades their capture. The characters are richly detailed and you feel if not an afinity, then certainly an intimate knowledge of them and are able form clear images of their faces and their mannerisms. There are unexpected twists and surprises (which I won't spoil for you) but this is definitely a novel you will want to read from cover to cover in one sitting.Oh yes, and you might want to leave a light on when you go to sleep.

Ah, BUT you can get satisfaction from this book!
How ironic that a friend requested I read this book. But first she asked me if I was easily offended by sexually graphic details...my reply was 'are you kidding, I read a book once where the serial killer kept women's pubic hair as a trophy, not one or two but the whole patch!' LOL I wasn't sure what to expect but I like that. I love psycho thrillers. I like to try to bounce back and forth from detective to 'deviant'.The author does a great job of giving you the background of Dylan McCormick without revealing anything about what will happen later. While I usually read thrillers that take place in the U.S. I am relieved that this one takes place in Australia so I won't be looking over my shoulder for Dylan McCormick!Captivating, exciting, intriguing, a GREAT page turner...AND you CAN get satisfaction from this book and this author~

Freind Request... A Psychological Novel
After opening 'Friend Request' i was amazed at how i became drawn into the psychological thriller. The book follows the character Dylan McCormick, the level of depth of his character is incredible as the most interesting character in the novel. Furthermore, as the novel relates to modern day on-line activity the book appeals to a young audience, while the use of thriller generic conventions appeals to older audience appealing a wide range of people. As compared to the 'Slience of the Lambs' and 'Wolf Creek' with part of 'The Bill' by its authors, if you want mystery, complicity and one outstanding story then this book is for you. I would describe book just like a jigsaw puzzle, one crime, thrilling puzzle!. To me one quotation in the book would sum the it up 'Things never turn quite turn out as orginally planned'!.

Good psychological thriller!
I am definitely a fan of the psychological thriller genre. I will usually give a book a chance if it recommended to me as a psychological thriller. 'Friend Request' fits within this genre nicely. The opening scene in the prologue reminded me of the television series 'Dexter' with a twist, and being that I enjoy 'Dexter' I had a feeling I would like this story too. Dylan McCormack is a complicated man, one you can't in some ways want to feel for even though the acts that he is committing are heinous, and that alone kept me riveted.

A "Dexter Like" Page-Turner
I rarely write book reviews, because I rarely find myself actually finishing them. "Friend Request" reeled me in from the first page and I couldn't put it down. I found it to be a "Dexter" like" psycho thriller, with a complex protagonist. Awesome character development with lots of twists and turns. If you like being drawn into fear, then "Friend Request" is the book for you.
