Waka Premium Instant Coffee Pouches — 100% Arabica Freeze Dried Beans — For Hot or Iced Coffee (8 Ounces, House Roast)

One of the better nuanced flavor freeze dried instant coffees. ☕️ notes of cocoa 🍫 and cinnamon. Bolder flavor compared to the waka medium roast in the blue packaging. I still need to try the other Waka flavors, but in my household this is preferred over nescafe or folgers or Sanka.

Best instant coffee ever, I like it more than traditional brewed coffee, it’s fast and easy with a kettle, good for every day as well as camping and travel. I drink my coffee black so if it’s trash I’ll know it , and this is not trash at all.

Waka instant coffee comes in a resealable pouch. The coffee has been freeze dried into small light brown nuggets that seem lightweight for their size.I prepared a hot coffee with about 1 1/2 tsp of coffee and added about 10 ounces of hot water. The granules dissolved quickly and completely with stirring, leaving a light foam on the top that reminded me of the crema produced by my espresso machine. I’m kind of a coffee wimp as I usually add a bit of sweetener and creamer, but I tried tasting it first without either. The coffee had a rich aroma and flavor, more complex than other instant coffees I’ve tried, but it had a slightly bitter finish. I added my usual sweetener and a dash of creamer which somewhat curbed the bitter aftertaste but kept the nice coffee flavor. As this is how I usually would drink it, this Waka instant coffee will be a handy and good way to get a quick cup of coffee at home or away.

This is my second purchase of this product (I chose the Papa blend as my dad made a doc there in the early eighties).From a baristas POV this was shockingly amazing. I love how versatile it is. And it lasts for so long! Such great quality- if you love good coffee but are not in the position to have an espresso machine- this is for you.

This instant coffee has larger and lighter granules than other instant coffees I have tried. The granules dissolve very easily in hot water. I found that it took some trial and error to get the right ratio of coffee to water. I started with a teaspoon in a medium cup of coffee, and worked up from there. The directions advise to add 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons of coffee to 8-10 ounces of water. I found that my preferred ratio was about 2 teaspoons to 10 ounces. There is no scoop included, so the amount is an approximation depending on what kind of spoon you use to measure. The flavor is a medium roast, and on the bitter side. I do find that instant coffee tends to be bitter, and this instant coffee is no exception. The caffeine level was appropriate for a cup of coffee. I found that adding a non-dairy creamer improved the beverage substantially. This is a decent alternative to brewing a cup of coffee.

I loved the smooth flavor and the easy to use powder. It tastes as full and rich to me as freshly ground drip coffee. I bought it when our kitchen was being remodeled, but I'm going to stick with this brand from now on. Thanks :)

For reference I typically drink dark roasts made in a drip coffee pot with one tsp of sugar. Generally speaking I am not a fan of freeze tried coffee. I often find them to be too weak or to have off flavors. I made this as directed on the bag and used the top of the range for the coffee (2tbs) and the bottom end of the range for water (8oz). I was happily surprised by how good the coffee was. It’s flavorful and bold. I don’t often get the flavor note described by coffee sellers and that was true here … I don’t really taste cinnamon or cacao notes but I wouldn’t hold that against them. It’s perhaps a bit more acidic than what I typically drink but not objectionbly so. I appreciate how quick and easy freeze dried coffee is to make so to find one that I enjoy is great. I would definitely use this in coffee lattes or other coffee based drinks. I would use this in place of making a pot of coffee too if I was pressed for time (but I do prefer my fresh made drip coffee). This coffee comes in an ziploc style resealable bag. Overall, I am very happy with this coffee.

Must have for home and traveling. Super tasty and fast to make!
