Very good value for money. Unless you know how to fit these it's very helpful to check out "how to fit gate springs" on YouTube. I watched two videos to work out how to do it. The secret is turning the spring with a little lever and using the little pins to retain that tension.Once fitted it does a great job of keeping the gate shut. At the moment I have no latch so the spring is doing all the work and doing this well.

After years of finding my front gate left open by the postman and other callers I decided to fit a GATE SPRING. Item well made and finished with a powdered coating should last a few years. A great little item that has at last defeated those lazy callers. I found it easy to fit, but I think that some fitting instructions should be included, I got my from U Tube.

As I have a community garden, the gates need to be kept shut, and it does the Jon.

Overall this does the job but I had seen previous reviews that warned about the retaining studs popping out and I found that to be the case within a few minutes of installation. Basically the studs do not stay in. The design of these studs is ridiculous. It's as if the manufacturer has never installed this spring IRL.Save yourself the agro and have 2 or 3 screws on hand to use instead.

Fitted this to my garden gate and didn't want masses of spring pressure to make the gate close like a mouse trap so only put a couple of turns on the spring before fitting the metal wedges that hold the tension on the spring.After about a week I noticed the gate was no longer closing and this is because both the wedges had fallen out (there is one on either end).In order to fix this, luckily I have a MIG welder so I tacked one end of the spring so it wouldn't move and managed to find one of the metal stops to re-fit it. as there is now only one stop it has managed to stay in.I would suggest if you buy one of these, perhaps fit a split pin or a roll pin to the ends in order to secure them as the supplied pins are just not long enough to adequately secure it.For the price and because I don't mind modifying things to work, I'll still give it some stars, but it's not ideal for everyone.Hopefully this review will help you make an informed decision to purchase or not. This came with no instructions had watch a how to install then realised the little silver tension pins then are provided don't fit and fall out, I used the small screws sent with the spring to replace the silver tension pins. the screws are still holding.I used longer wood screws to fix the spring to to the gate not the small 2cm screws provided those are now in the spring as the tension springs.Buy another gate spring one with instructions and components that fit and work...

No instructions and if your not DIY minded, you might struggle to work it out. But it is very simple when do. The silver nipples that come with it are just to fit in the holes to secure and maintain the tension you need when fitted. You simply fit with screws. PLEASE USE OWN SCREWS, the ones supplied are garbage and won't hold it.
