Great oven
Much easier to wash after cooking compared to traditional oven. The timer allows to swich off automatically so it is safe. The taste of food is really good. Big size so you need a lot of space in the kitchen but it's worth it.

Halogen Oven
Easy to use...I only needed the top as my other one died...this is a different brand and is much hotter, so 1st time I used it I ended up burning my chop...since then I lowered the temp to 150 and that is the right temp to cook most things ....trial and error as with anything new....not bad price, such a shame you can't just buy new tops...I have 3 bowls and equipment now in the garage

1 year of usage later... followed by a discovery another few years later...
I bought this almost 1 year ago but was not prompted by Amazon then (usually 1 month after purchase) for a review as normally occurs. Having just seen the "Write your own review" button, here it is!I stumbled across this by accident as I was searching for a replacement for a conventional mini-oven. Up until then I was completely ignorant about Halogen cookers, but after further reading decided to try it out. And I haven't been disappointed! This cooks stuff beautifully and in about half the time that my conventional oven used to take. Better yet, it doesn't dry out the food like the conventional oven used to either - for example, I used to despair when trying to cook fish & chips together, the fish was generally undercooked whereas the chips ended up dried-out, brittle and tasteless! With the halogen cooker the excess moisture collects at the bottom of the bowl, instead of being blown out the back like my little oven used to do. Actually, when you remove the top of the halogen cooker when cooking has completed you are greeted by a blast of steam - so practically all the excess water remains in the bowl! In fact, you will periodically need to empty the water that collects there, presuming of course you don't usually cook 'messy' meals that require the bowl to be cleaned each time! The only criticism I have concerns the quality of the 'stainless-steel' used in the supplied tray-rack that you would use for grilling etc. - with its legs standing in the water that collects on the bowl-bottom, they quickly start to rust. Emptying the excess water each time it's used is the obvious solution of course!Summing up, this I would rate as my best kitchen appliance purchase to date! I use this far more frequently that I did the conventional cooker or the microwave (which I scrapped on safety-grounds - people really should read up on the health implications of eating food cooked in these!) - and it cooks the food far better than anything else I've tried. Plus as I write this, the current asking price is just £39.95 - I payed £59.95 if memory serves! - and this includes all the usual accessories (which I got) PLUS A SPARE REPLACEMENT TUBE! (which I didn't get!) So it strikes me as a real bargain!Update: 3 - 4 years after buying this and with almost daily use, the halogen heating element has finally blown. Fair enough. I open it up to make sure that's what it was only to find that this heating element was never meant to be replaced - this version was meant to be a throw-away item once the halogen bulb blew! Frankly, that makes me angry! I had seen elements for sale on Ebay over the years which after removing a few screws, could be just plugged in - as it should be! - and had presumed that this was standard practice - which it should have been! And it may be now, given that Andrew James now provides a spare bulb with the cooker - but it wasn't then! It's still replaceable, but only for the technically competent. Had I known then what I know now, I never would have bought this.Great concept let down by a shoddy design where the customer was set up to be screwed financially. Gone from 5 to 2-stars.Update:The above hissy-fit was unjustified - I ended up ordering the element after all, and although nowhere as easy to install as in the current models, it's not rocket-science either! Suffice it to say that it's back in operation again and warrants 4-stars.

Brilliant
Much better than non halogen air fryers.I ran a self cleaning cycle today, very very impressed.Halogen all the way from now on,Wrong to think the result of crispness doesn't compare to conventional air fryers, cooked chips and chicken drumsticks, to perfection...You wont be disappointed when you make the purchase..

Bad mistake
Bought this as a replacement for an earlier model, thinking somewhat naively, that it would be an improvement. BIG MISTAKE. It still occupies the same "footprint" area as the previous model, but with one major difference. The lid is no longer hinged, or can be raised, in order to accomodate the large ring, but instead, must be removed to gain access to the cooked food. This means that a larger area is needed around the unit, to place the lid in the holder, without catching the power cable, which is not always easy.Further, the dialling of both temperature and timer is much less accurate than a digital version, and the temperature does not reset at the end of the cooking cycle. In all honesty, I wish that I had not bought it.

First class product with a first class service
I bought this as it was slightly cheaper than my original choice and, after reading some poor reviews of halogen ovens in general I decided to go for this cheaper option. But really, the clincher for me was the free included replacement bulb. (Just as well!)In my experience, the Andrew James company cannot be faulted on customer service. One of the best I have ever experienced.I ordered late on Sunday and the oven arrived by 2pm on Wednesday.Unfortunately, the halogen bulb didn't work so I replaced it with the suplied replacement bulb. (A bit fiddly. Someone with no DIY skills would need help IMO.)I emailed the company at about 4pm on Wednesday and they responded that night saying that a replacement would be sent. It arrived the next day and was sent by first class post! First class - they could easily have sent it second class and I'd be just as happy. That is what I call customer service.I've read lots of people complain about things not being cooked well with halogen ovens. To me, this is just the same as when you start using any new cooker. You need to find out from experience how your new cooker works.I used an oven thermometer to test the actual temperatures for the empty oven both with and without the extender ring.Without the extender ring (thermostat at 200C)Bottom: 205CLow rack: 225CHigh rack: 230CWith the extender ring (thermostat at 200C)Bottom: 185CLow rack: 205CHigh rack: 220CUsing that I cooked a perfect pizza in 9 minutes on the bottom of the oven with no extender ring. It was great to see the cheese bubbling away! When I made my bread I used the thaw setting when I was raising the bread. I left it for about 90 minutes and, when I came back, it had raised above the top of the bowl!!! It had never done this before at my normal kitchen temperature. After knocking it back I again used the thaw setting to raise the bread then took it out before setting the oven to pre-heat.I deciced to bake the bread without the extender ring and, after 15 minutes, saw that it was in danger of being burnt. No problem, I just turfed it out of the tin, turned it upside down then continued. It turned out to be the best loaf I've made this year!Once the oven has reached its required temperature the light does not seem to come on very often. The negative points:1) I think the lid holder is flimsy and I won't be using it. I'm lucky in that I've got enough free workspace to simply put it on the worktop.2) I would have liked the timer to be able to go past 60 minutes and progress on to zero (like my 12 year old tumbler dryer - so it's not new technology!!!). I'm sure at some point I'll get impatient and turn it backwards. This is not a negative point but if you've never had one of these before you will be surprised at how big it is.
