DON'T BUY USELESS ITEM
Don't buy this. It doesn't send alerts. Doesn't automatically record on motion detection as advertised. And they make you pay postage to return it when they're falsely advertising something it does not do! Also picture quality is dreadful very blurry on faces etc. . No zoom in feature. No customer service help number no way to download recordings. I've had 2 very important evidence videos and the stupid camera has just deleted it!! AVOIDJust waste of money. Broke after 3 months wouldn't record no more. Only Fit for bin.

Great picture quality
This is a very neat little camera capable of 1080p full HD, with two way audio, and very acceptable night vision. You start by downloading the app from Google Play or the Apple app store. Next plug in your camera to the mains supply, and configure the camera to connect to your router using your smart phone or device. You need to scan the camera's unique QR code on the bottom of the camera to add your camera to the app. During set up you have the option to name your camera which I suppose is in case you opt for a multi camera system. The on screen prompts during set up are simple and easy to follow, and basically the only other item you will need is your wifi password.Your camera is now (hopefully) connected, and up and running. You can view output on your smart phone / device. The camera comes with no Micro SD card for recording, so if you want to use the record feature you will need to buy one. The HGWIP812 can pan and tilt which is a great feature, as is the infra red night vision which gives a very good picture in low light conditions. In daylight the picture quality is excellent, and you can receive sound, as well as using a microphone button on the app/picture screen to transmit to the camera's speaker. Your phone/device can also receive notifications of any unauthorised movement detected by the camera. This is a nicely built and very versatile piece of kit. it can be wall mounted with the included mounting bracket, or left on a table top/work surface. The box also includes a software disc, and WARNING stickers for your windows. The reason I am not giving this 5 stars is a common downside of a lot of these security cameras. They are not terribly discrete, and unless hardwired directly into the mains supply, they can be switched off at the wall by any intruder. The micro SD card can easily be removed too.In my opinion this type of camera is much more useful for keeping an eye on pets if you are away from home, or babies/young kids from anywhere you happen to be in the house, or if you are out for the evening, and they have been left with a sitter. I'm going to use my camera to monitor our naughty puppy, although it will also double up as a security device, in the hope that anyone breaking in might be an amateur chancer, and complete miss it. Good price for such a good camera though, and probably the best one I have tested in this price range.

Good for babies/pets - not for burglars
This is an easy-to-install and highly capable camera, but as some other reviewers have stated, it's better suited to keeping an eye on pets/children while you are away, rather than deterring burglars. The camera pairs to smartphones via a QR code and app. It can then be controlled easily via the phone, with tiltable angles etc. The camera can be set to trigger an alert on your phone when movement is detected. This feature is perhaps useful if you are on holiday, and there are no pets in the house - when any movement in the house would be suspicious - but if you are out for the evening it may be annoying. Do you really want to know every time your child or pet moves? It is quite good to monitor sleeping babies - I am using this alongside a non-video-enabled baby monitor. The night vision is excellent, and the 1080p is as good as it gets. It's no suitable as a burglar deterrent as any burglar could easily break or turn off the camera, which needs to be connected to the mains. In addition, you need to buy a memory card if you want to store any footage.

Great quality but NO use if you get burgled!
This camera has excellent quality footage, and is really easy to set up. You download the app, plug the camera into a power socket, and the app links the camera to your WiFi. You can then watch remotely from anywhere. You can even talk through the speaker facility and listen in via the microphone. You can move the camera around remotely and it has good night vision. So far so good. The problem with the item came as soon as I realised it is not recording the footage anywhere. Say for example, if you were burgled, you would not be able to rewind the footage and get the excellent quality footage of the offenders that you would expect. There IS a record facility, but only when you are actually watching the footage. So unless you just happened to be watching the app just as someone came and broke in and set it to record asyou weāre watching, there is no āsecurityā aspect to the product. Yes, you could buy a micro SD card, but as the camera needs to be on an open shelf or similar in order to get a good field of vision, any intruder would see the camera immediately (itās not discreet) and just remove the whole thing. That is why a WiFi enabled camera is so good in theory - it should have already beamed the footage to the cloud, and so the evidence is safe. The only real use for this item is to spy on pets, children, or your partner! I must say it has freaked my cat out when Iāve called her through the speaker, so I havenāt done it again!Itās such a shame that there doesnāt appear to be an option of buying storage online to keep a background recording going. If that were available, Iād be giving the item 5 stars.
