Affordable, effective 10-Band EQ with universal gain/volume control
There are a lot of cheap EQ pedals on the market, and most of them work just fine. But I opted for this Caline model because: (a) I have other Caline pedals and appreciate their value and build quality; (b) I wanted one with a master volume/gain control; (c) I wanted one affordable enough that I didn't have to feel sick about breaking if I used it improperly.I got the CP-24 primarily to use with my guitar amp - it's excellent in the effects loop, where you can most purely impact EQ frequencies without then feeding those into a preamp, which itself has its own tone stack. You can also use it as a volume attenuator - set up your amp for the tone you want at any volume, and then roll back the gain using this EQ pedal in the FX loop. Works great for home/apartment practicing!Guitar frequencies are more narrowly focused than this, and most frequencies below the 100Hz level are below what the guitar actually puts out. So you don't "need" a 10 band EQ, per se, but having one gives you more precise control. For example: maybe you want to boost mids, but really want to boost LOWER-mids, as opposed to a Tubesceamer-like effect. The CP-24 allows you to do that. I also want it because I could see using it with bass, synths, and other gear that much work more in a full range of frequencies. The pedal itself is built very well, though I wouldn't put a lot of stress on the 11 slider knobs, which are plastic and could break off if rest or drop other things on top of it. The CP-24 is a great affordable option if you want a 10-band EQ and can't afford something like the MXR version.

Stop over thinking and buy it.
So I have been playing for years, and I've gone through the struggle of finding a pleasant tone and going through more amps than I ever have guitars or other instruments. With an eq pedal, it makes finding that sweet spot so much easier, and can effectively make a crap amp sound alright. This unit in particular has the range to even tweak 8 string guitars and bass, pre, or post effects and distortion and it hasn't popped. For the price it's well worth it. I'm angry that these pedals exist and are so cheap and I just now bought one after over 18 years of playing. Stellar pedal. No operating issues, plastic is a bit chinsey but if you're mounting it on a pedal board I don't see a problem arising. OH! AND BTW! the gain slider on this pedal is powered gain with boost rather than just a volume slider, so you can boost your signal as well as tweak your tone.

Great but had to try several power supplies before I found one that didn't cause hum
Sound quality is good. True bypass. Build feels solid. LEDs are brighter than I would like but at least they're red and not blue. I'm using it on an EHX DRM-32 rhythm machine (mostly to tame the massive low end and hype the mids a little) so I can't really speak to how the gain would work on a guitar. Since I was using it subtractively, pushing the gain up a little brought the overall level up to a good spot. The frequencies on this one are different than I've seen on some other eq pedals, make sure this will work for you. Only real problem I had was finding a power supply that didn't cause a loud hum. Using a 9v battery was fine, but I wanted to be able to leave it plugged in all the time. I tried 6 different power supplies before I found one that worked without causing a loud hum. Not sure what the trick was - none of them were switching, they all had similar amperages... <shrug> Surprisingly, using the supplied 9v adaptor cable, my Radio Shack 9v battery eliminator caused loud humming. A vintage Boss PSA-120 worked so that's what I'm using and it sounds good!

Pretty good.
This pedal can add alot of volume to your rig. I have it plugged into my fx loop and when cranked up can add some serious volume, about 6db increase to my loudness. As well as shape the tonality. It really allows me to make my 7string tone more defined. It is a little hissy, but not bad at all.

seemed poor quality only after minimal use
it was always noisy and stopped working all together after a year. I got a mot more response and tone shaping from a MXR EQ6

Caline 10 band EQ pedal - worth the money!
I had no issues with noise on this unit.Great value for the money.Very well built and the lit slidersare a bonus not seen on some other pedals.

Versatile and Durable EQ Pedal
I use it to polish the sound of my distortion and overdrive pedals. EQ's are the most underrated and versatile pedals in the market, try this one. The detail of the LEDs on each bands is very helpful and looks pretty cool. Very intuitive, it could be a little bit smaller, but that's not an issue for me.

Useful experimental tool
There’s a little hiss, but nothing more than any basic op amp mixer channel. It’s quieter than several “driver” devices I have. The thing to remember is that equalization is best done by subtracting what you don’t want as opposed to boosting what you do want. There’s a tendency to use the whole fader. Those markings mean a thing. For me, this is a great experimental tool. The frequency range is far beyond the needs of a guitar signal. It is perfect for taming hand made synthesizer circuits, or like in the picture, shaping the sound of a piezoelectric sensor percussion box with spring doorstops!Pushing any fader above 6db boost creates a pleasantly colored noise spike, which can be used to creative ends. Not so pleasant to push the master volume above 6db boost. On the downside, it seems intolerant of switching power supplies... much quieter running off a battery ( I might try a filtered linear power supply) .This, and a sloppy fit on the power jack ( recessed in the hole, at an angle ) are why no five star rating.
