Now we're talking!!!
This thing makes most of the "snap knifes" on the market look like kids toys. Right out of the packaging you can feel the quality. This thing is stout... All metal, auto loading, comes with 2 awesome blades, holds 6 spare blades, very comfortable handle, and designed flawlessly. I am remodeling and got sick of breaking all of the plastic garbage and went on a mission for a snap knife that I can actually reuse. This thing will last a lifetime. Very happy customer.. There is a reason why Japanese tools are top shelf and this is just another example. I highly recommend this to everyone. I paid full price for this and I am not being compensated for this review.

Simply the Best 18mm Snap-Blade Utility Knife.
NT-Cutter is an old guard Japanese Manufacturer, and this is their premium, extra-heavy-duty Snap-Blade Utility Knife, and quite probably the best heavy duty Snap-Blade Knife in the world. The handle is cast aluminum with a peened anodized finish, smooth with no rough casting or machining spots, a series of easy gripping ridges provide extra purchase and tactile response. Mounted inside the handle, is the steel blade guide and cartridge system. The Blade extend and retract mechanism is heavy and precisely engages from position to position. Now one of the things that sets this knife apart from all the other Snap-Blade knives, is that on the right side of the knife, at the blade exit slot, is a thumb screw driven blade clamp. It is not visible in the Amazon product photos, but it is there. By tightening the screw with the extended blade, you will clamp it into position against all movement, vertical, or retraction/extension. Likewise, if the blade is retracted, tightening the screw will serve as a safety mechanism against unwanted blade extension. It is extremely robust. While it slows down the operation a little bit, the extra rigidness it provides during heavy duty cutting is well worth it.The other aspect of this knife, is that it carries a removable cartridge that stores six extra blades. When you've worn out and discarded the last section of your old blade, you simply slide the extension button fully to the rear, and a new blade is loaded automatically, and will begin to extend when you slide the extension button forward. Nifty! The knife comes with 2 blades installed, and takes the widely produced 18mm utility blade size. Blades are available from Tajima, NT-cutter, and OLFA.This is the knife I wish I had, when I was a lowly warehouse worker so many years ago. If you need a reliable cutting companion, this is it.

Comes with an extra blade!
The media could not be loaded. All metal, and STURDY!Satisfying mechanism.A small detail that I appreciate, is the blades come coated with oil- so they don't rust.I use this to open packages all the time, since the blades are easy to snap and replace. No more dulling my pocket knives on cardboard boxes!

Great, but the Directions Should be Better
Directions were not very helpful. And when I tried loading up six of the blades - because I bought extras when I bought this - it didn't want to work right, so I ended up taking all six of them out and leaving just the two that it came with. And I had to be careful every step of the way so I didn't cut myself!

Great knife!
Very well balanced and very nicely built knife. It's my goto knife mostly for cutting boxes and tape. Well constructed!

Outstanding in the field!
The reviews for tools are not always representative of the true value or usefulness, but in this case the glowing reviews are right on! Once in a while a re-issue of a timeworn design and tool like a utility knife comes along that re-defines what a utility knife should have been all along. This is one of those designs, rugged and durable features thoughtfully incorporated to make this a joy to use. Safety is a consideration that has obviously been taken into consideration in the design of this tool, well done. Would give it more stars if I could!

The Brahmin Of BoxCutters
Look No Further.Pricey but for those who want to dismantle their boxes in class, well, this is the exception par none. A magazine of six razors with clip off, dulled w/use, razor tips with an enclosed “tip clipper”. For those “Brahmins” whose demands know no heights there is a detached (separately purchased – of course) very cool magazine of 50 razor blades. Keeping all your fingers is always something to be sought after, that said, the locking mechanism secure the cutting razor to remain at the projected length preventing blade slippage – slipping not good. Now I have purchased two (2) of these crème-de-le-creame box cutters, one for the downstairs and one for the upstairs, and I have to confess I also have one on the workbench peg board in my garage. So what prompted this unfettered buying spree? Well where I live in Sothern California there is a warehouse seller whose name starts with a “C” and ends with a “O” and is 6 letters long. Select products, that is products that are expensive and easily fencable, are packaged is bullet proof cardboard and encased in Fort Knox plastic. Attempting to “break into” these encased packages with my old American made box cutter from “H---E D---T” nearly amputated a finger here and there – I escaped but not without thinking that another method, included explosions, may meet with better and safer success. Now America has done a fair job after 30 years to understand that we as a people don’t like their garish automobiles, but rather, those fine Japanese automobiles. Well, guess what, this is a Japanese product and made with the same attention to function and detail as their automobiles. Hence in addition to purchasing Japanese automobiles, you guess it, I now have the good sense, and all my fingers, to buy Japanese very cool box cutters.
