UTG OP3 Micro SLS, Red 4 MOA Single Dot, RMR Footprint

I wanted an RDS for a .22 target pistol and not something bigger in size or higher costs. Reading up on the UTG models, the positive reviews and lifetime warranty, I ordered this one. Having purchased others similar ones for my kids airsoft guns, years ago, this is an incredibly well made and designed product! Much better than I expected for the costs & the accessories that are with it. It does better than I expected and better than bigger named brands that cost 2-3x as much. UTG-Leapers, have been upping their products, and BUIS, and others products have been added to our sporting goods.

My optic arrived really quick, quality of the red dot seems really nice, it does look and feel like other UTG products in quality.I wanted to like this red dot, it seemed like it would have usable features, and for some people this may be exactly what you need.First off the included battery was dead, it happens, I pulled a battery from a different optic to test.Second the red dot has no auto shut-off, this means that unless you successfully turn it off then your battery will die, the power button must be pressed for exactly 7 seconds, not 6.9, not 7.1 exactly 7.There is no third, the second was enough to cause me to fall completely out of love with the red dot, infatuation is over, there are other fish (red dots) in the seaUTG makes some decent optics within the price range, but they fall short in ways, an auto-off is very important, but instead they found other ways to deal with the potential dead battery. Like a vertical mark above the optic window, that will help you find your target if(when) the battery dies.Sorry to beat this one point to death, the red dot is not for me, I will stick with feature sets more suited to my preferences.

I am returning this because the dot is just too bursty for my eye. Even on dimmer settings, it was not a crisp dot. Build quality was good. Auto adjust was interesting as first, but I found some middle light conditions where it would bounce between dim and bright and it just did not seem like it was going between two setting next to each other. I quickly packaged this for return after receiving a Primary Arms classic. The PA dot was much clearer to my eye, glass had very little tint and my front sight even seemed to me a little sharper through the PA glass. I am sure this UTG will work for some people and I was hoping it would for me since it was nearly just half of retail pricing with a very good manufactures warranty. The screws from the pic mount worked for my slide 6-32 slide, not all budget dots screws do, looking at you ohhunt.

Have had this on 2 different 5.56 ARs for some time now and it has been through at least 2000 rounds by now. No problem with the dot brightness and it has worked for me mostly as a canted sight for an AR with a 3-12x scope. Haven't done long range with it but it's accuracy is good up to at least 100yds since I can easily hit a 6" steel plate at that distance with it no problem. Probably will get more of these for more rifles since I don't really have any complaints, especially for the price. Only thing I might say if I am really nit-picking is if I can find something just as good for the same price I might grab it if it also has a Shake Awake feature so I don't have to always hold the button to turn it on and off. Overall I would recommend and have done so as a friend got one and had the same experience.

I bought new batteries and put one in and it died by the next day. I don't know what's going on with it, but it's a battery killer for sure. Also, I thought this was the motion awake red dot. It's not. It has an auto light sensing brightness mode, but it doesn't have the motion awake.

Throw it away

Used this optic for my poverty pony build on Dagger full size S with RMR cutout. This optic fit perfectly and has held zero thru the first 150 rounds. Look... The bottom line is it's not a Holsun or a Vortex but it is an optic that works and works well made by a company that stands behind their products.

Would have been 5 stars if it had shake awake technology. Crisp dot, easy to zero, side loading battery, low profile base to co-witness with iron sights, and easy to install on Canik SFX.
