Update: Macbook M1 doesn't have usb 3.2 gen2 20gbps speed
Update: I was wrong. MacBook Air M1 support thunderbolt 3 and usb 3.1 10gbps. So the low speed is due to MacBook usb 3.1 gen 10gbps usb c port.

Non-functional product AND support
We could not get this unit to be recognized by a variety of computers. We reached out to their support and got crickets. It’s possible we got a bad one and a replacement would have worked fine, but the lack of support sealed its fate.

Nice looking enclosure with problems
I purchased the Orico M.2 20Gbps enclosure for use with a new Asus laptop with Thunderbolt 4 ports. First problem I had was that the included heatsink did not fit my WD SN770 SSD, causing the SSD to overheat. I cut a 3 mm thick silicon thermal pad to fit between the ssd and the enclosure cover. Overheating problem solved. Next problem was that my laptop would only recognize the Orico enclosure about 50% of the time. Sometimes I get an error message saying that the USB audio device is not recognized. Unplugging and replugging from the Thunderbolt port usually solves this problem after 2 or 3 tries. The best read/write speed I was able to obtain is about 1080 MB/s using the Thunderbolt 4 ports. I tried on another machines having USB 3.2 ports and got around 460 MB/s. Finally, the enclosure sometimes randomly drops offline when used with Thunderbolt ports. USB 3 ports seem to work reliability, but never achieve full speed.

Doesn’t seem to be compatible with my Crucial P5+
Enclosure was recognized by windows once after waiting 30m. The included cable doesn’t work whether plugged into a type A or C port. It causes my shutdown/startup sequence from pressing the power button to take 5+ minutes when plugged in. The rubber pin to fix the m.2 drive has to be one of the worst designs I’ve seen in quite some time (can we really not afford a threaded post and screw?!). And, on top of all of that, it appears to have corrupted the data that was stored on the drive. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

Too slow
Not fast as expected

Not a Good design
The enclosure does not cool the M.2 drive as it should. The metal enclosure does not make contact with the drive and had to add an additional heat sink to make contact with lid. This is not a good heat management design

DOES NOT PERFORM TO SPEC
Item is listed as 20Gbps but performs the same aa a 2 generation old 10Gbps enclosure. Its getting speeds around 1020MB/s which is slower than 10Gbps no where near the advertised. Verified with a tested fast drive as well as a second SSK enclosure. The drive performs 3 times as fast when installed in a PC and with the drive already in use by windows as a boot drive.Enclose was tested in a Thunderbolt 4/USB4 Port on a 12th Gen PC.
