Even though magnesium, a type of metal, is in the name, magnesium oxide - in this case - is a light weight plastic. It was ok for me because I have the skills and materials to glue and screw an eighth inch thick piece of aluminum sheet to the top. This allows drilling and tapping to screw a birdbath mount to the top. I think it looks great! How about you?

5 stars for the product but I am docking 4 stars because upon opening this box little pellets of styrofoam balls from the broken chunks of molded styrofoam flung everywhere and all over my patio. You’re diabolical for continuing to use this crap for packaging and I hate dealing with it so much it’s enough to dock all stars away from an otherwise decent decorative item.

It arrived in perfect condition and it is even better looking than we had hoped. Exactly what we wanted. If your looking for something like this I would highly recommend this one.

I have a few different style plinths in my home, I like that you can use them for displaying different things from plants to speakers, this Roman style column I think looks really great, it’s very realistic looking, it has some weight to it, enough to not be flimsy or get knocked over but not so heavy you can’t lift it by yourself, I think it’s made from a plaster type material, and it has foam neoprene feet on the bottom so not to scratch wood floors, overall I am very happy with this plinth, if I had to find fault I would say it would be cool if you could get it in a lighter color as well, otherwise it’s great.

We put this in our garden to hold a potted plant near our garden beds. It’s super sturdy and has nice detail. It’s not too heavy though. Has held up well in the weather. We have super hot summers and we just had some rain and it looks as good as new, although a little dusty. It’s a nice little touch to a garden or even a home that has more formal decor as a plant stand, or I bet you could attach a table top to it for a side table.
