Tested it out the first night, and immediately got into a staring contest with a raccoon in the pitch dark. Those creatures look fairly horrifying in night vision. We were about 5 feet from each other, and neither was going to make the first move... until something brushed up against my leg.I yelled. The raccoon squealed and ran up a tree. I looked down and discovered that the idiot cat had come over while the trash panda and I were having a standoff and decided to wreck the mood.You didn't need to know all that. But yes, this product does what it claims to. Although now that I've seen a raccoon in night vision, I can't help but laugh at them when I see them in daylight.

For the price, these night vision goggles are shockingly good! The IR light really punches through the dark, letting me see exactly what's going on in the backyard (spoiler: mostly squirrels plotting). The clarity is impressive enough that I can now accurately identify which neighbor's trash can my raccoons are currently redecorating. Totally worth it for both security and late-night, highly-illuminated shenanigans. Highly recommend for the curious (and slightly mischievous) budget shopper!

I realize that one can pay $30,000 for IR night vision and this is not that.. but it does feel a little cheap. The thin, brittle plastic housing would probably break pretty easily so I would not include this as a backpacking item or in a situation that would require any sort of ruggedness.That being said, it does also work. The controls are not very intuitive so learn them indoors in the light, but once you understand them your hands and fingers naturally sit in logical positions for the most important features.The screen is also not my favorite feature, lighting up your face as you look around, so very easily spooked creatures might be startled. Just keep it in mind.But all-in-all, a fun toy/tool for checking out critters in the back yard and an inexpensive way to test IR night vision to see if is something into which you might want to delve deeper.

At best the picture quality is very grainy in the daytime. The night time quality is even worse. Hard to see and very grainy. I didn’t expect military grade night vision but there is a very stark difference between the advertised image quality and the actual image quality. Returned this item.

In the description it says thermal but it does not show thermal is the main reason I bought it.

Very simple to use and a lot of fun. We used these camping with our grandchildren and (10-14 years) and they loved them. The low cost and great resolution makes them versatile for a variety of needs.
