Q: The trap door will not stay open. Keeps falling shut. Anyone else have this issue. Also have not caught one mosquito in 3 weeks.

I put mine on upside down at first. Maybe try flipping it over? The fan should pull it open. Spiders get in mine too and can web up the whole opening if I don't clean them out The scent lures really improved my catch.

Q: how much area does it cover? trying to figure out how many are needed

It is difficult to say exactly how big of an area each trap covers, because there are many different criteria which have an influence on the catching rate, such as mosquito population, breeding waters, resting places, coppice, climate, surroundings etc. The basic traps (BG-Mosquitaire without CO2) cover about 50 to 100 m² and the CO2 versions (BG-Mosquitaire + BG-Booster) about 100 to 600 m². But this depends on the local situation. You could start with one or two traps and can always add more if you are happy with the traps but still being bothered by the mosquitoes.

Q: How often do you replace the bait

During the mosquito season in North central Texas, March-September, I change the bait every 4 weeks. The CO2 gas really increases mosquito capture for me.

Q: Does it need to be connected to power outlet

Yes. We are also offering here on Amazon extension cords, if needed.
