Works with Motor Oil
I pumped 5W40 Synthetic Diesel motor oil from a 5 gallon container (cheaper that way) into a smaller 5 quart container with no problem. Just kept pumping about 15 or so Pump's. Better than pouring it out without the mess. Works great for transferring Diesel fuel as well.

Excellent value for the money!!!!
Terapump TRDP15, Excellent Siphon PumpThis is not my first Terapump TRDP15. I ordered my first in 2014. The first recently gave up from age and mis-use. When it first arrived I attempted to take it apart, only to find it is heat fused together. I did my best to put it together with fuel line sealant, but after two years it started to loose suction. Its a fantastic device for the money. I also have one of the cheap $5-8 siphon's from the local box store. The cheapie doesn't hold a candle to the speed and ease of operation of this siphon. The secret: larger, longer tubes.I've not timed the flow, but if it doesn't do 5 gallons in a minute it's darn close to it.I use it mainly to refill my generator with gasoline. As some might know if the generator stops unexpectantly the peanut gallery starts looking for someone to kill. I know how much fuel we use, keep an eye an the clock, let everyone know we'll be without power while I refill and all is slightly better. The peanut gallery is unhappy but not murderous. This device makes it faster and easier to refuel. Pouring fuel on a hot generator is downright stupid. My TRDP15 is the smart safe way to refuel. As long as I don't rush I don't miss a drop. Safer and cleaner. The instruction quickly go over the secret to safe operation. When you press the button on top, do so a bit before you want flow to stop. Those larger hoses hold a bit of fluid. Press before you want it to stop AND hold the button down till the exit tube is empty.Good luck. Be safe.

Works even on lawn mower and snow blower tanks
I bought this siphon even though the reviews were conflicting on whether it would work on small engine tanks like a lawn mower or snow blower. Some reviews said this was due to the long, wide draw tube and not enough gas in the tank to create and maintain the flow. Some said that shortening the draw tube would solve the problem. This made sense to me so I thought I'd give it a try. There was less than half a tank in my snow blower. The siphon didn't create a constant flow and I had to keep squeezing the bulb. I'm sure this was due to the amount of gas and size of the draw tube, but wasn't a big deal as it only took 4 or 5 squeezes to drain the tank. This was much better than the turkey baster I was using. The siphon didn't completely drain the tank and I used the baster to get most of the remaining gas. Shortening the draw tube might drain more gas, but I don't think it would be a significant difference. The manufacturer must have read the reviews that complained the siphon didn't come with instructions because mine did.Overall, I would recommend this siphon. I bought it specifically to drain gas from my lawn mower and snow blower at the end of the season. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the length and diameter of the draw tube is too long and wide to work perfectly on small tanks, but it does work, drains fast and got the majority of the gas. The turkey baster took me 15-20 minutes to drain the tank. This siphon took a few seconds followed by 6-10 fill ups of the the baster.

PERFECT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been heating house with k1 & firewood for over 20 years. Transferring k1 from large containers to smaller ones has always been very messy, and have spilt a lot of my valuable k1. I got this in just a few days after I ordered. Tried it out right away. 1st try I made a little mess because I filled container and did not allow for extra in syphon to drain. I filled 20 containers after that with out 1 drop waisted. Wish I would have had this over all these past years. It syphons so fast that I do not use it to syphon directly into heaters ( even though I could because hoses fit ). Very glad I bought one without batteries for 2 reasons .1 do not have to buy batteries. 2 I feel I have more control of the flow to fill containers exactly were I want to. What used to be an hour or 2 job with a big mess to clean up, I just finished in less than 10 min. with no mess. So-o-o-o easy to use. Thinking of picking up more to use for other things - like siphon h2o of large canner instead of lifting heavy pot, or ? uses can be endless. If it isn't as great after using for a while, I will up date review. But for now I think it is great and would recommend to anyone. Get the blue one and check prices - they really vary - I ordered for $7.99 +free shipping. K1 is $4.50 gal here - paid for it's self in 1 use. doesn't come with instuctions - but just put hoses in containers and squeeze. Seems quality like it will hold up, and does not leak .

Love it. Was super handy in helping me siphon old gas from a long-sitting project car.
This is a really great tool if you need to siphon out old gas that's been sitting in a dormant vehicle for several years.NOTE: The suction tube is 1" in diameter, so it won't fit into the fill spout of most gas tanks, and isn't long enough to reach the bottom of the fuel tank even if it CAN fit. So what you'll need in addition to this handy pump is 1) a length of 3/4" diameter vinyl tubing, and 2) a 1"-to-3/4" Brass Hose Barb Reducer. Use the brass reducer to connect the vinyl tubing to your sweet new pump, then stick the other end of the vinyl tubing down your gas tank, and you're good to go.

Does t fit a barrel
This does not fit the across hole of a 55 gallon barrel it’s not even close 1/2 inch estimated difference in diameter.

Need to hold both ends which can be tough
I got this so that I could put one end in a 5-gallon water jug, and the other end in my small shelf top hydroponic systems. It works okay, but more often than not I find it spraying out like an out of control fire hose, no matter how deep it is, or how well I think I've got it lodged in a crack to hold in place, I usually end up spraying some water on my plants any myself which is annoying. I think adding some kind of weight at the end would really benefit this product. In the future, I will just be using the siphon to fill the Aerogarden no-spill watering jug and then use that to top off my garden.
